Onion and Garlic Cornbread

Ingredients

  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • Pinch of sugar salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 1/2 cups cornmeal
  • 1 onion chopped
  • 2 cloves of garlic minced
  • 2 tablespoons bacon grease

Instructions

  • Sauté garlic and onion in 1 tablespoon of bacon grease.
  • Mix meal, flour, pepper, salt and sugar. Add milk to dry ingredients. Mix with egg. Add remaining bacon grease to garlic and onion mix. Stir well until thin. (If mixture is too thick, add more milBake in greased pan at 450ē for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
